The Basics of Well Positioned ❤️

  • Well Positioned is a virtual coaching service designed to support college-bound students and families through their transition into college life. We offer personalized mentorship, emotional and executive functioning support, and frequent check-ins to help students stay on track—academically, socially, and personally. Plus, we offer parent transition courses.

  • This program is for college students who could benefit from an added layer of mentorship and guidance as they make the transition to making the most out of college. Our clients are typically freshman students with strong potential who benefit from proactive support—and parents who want peace of mind without hovering.

  • We offer four tiers of service:

    1. The Signature Year: for families seeking full-year support. Think: slow but steady wins the race

    2. Fall Intensive: A super-charged intensive program to start college right. Think: “crash course”

    3. Remedial Support: For students facing academic probation or are at-risk for leaving or dropping out.

    4. Add-On Coaching: For students wishing to continue with us after 1, or mid-year resets or students who realize they could use a little extra guidance. Think: “Ad-hoc Coaching.".”

  • No - we support students after the acceptance letter. For most students, we’re the steady presence that picks up where high school leaves off.

However, we are able to assist in transfer planning should a current Well Positioned student wish to transfer colleges during their work with us.

  • All coaching is currently led by our team of college transition experts. Our team has served as school counselors, admissions counselors, and collegiate freshman life professionals.

    • 1-on-1 Virtual Coaching focus on their college transition

    • Unlimited text, email, and phone support

    • Personalized roadmap for their first year

    • Private parent portal with updates and resources

    • Free access to special topic webinars

Be sure to also check out our tiers.

  • All sessions are held via Zoom. Students can schedule their own times (we teach them how) and communicate with their coach directly. Sessions are relaxed and conversational but purposeful, and always centered around learning objectives that address what they’re facing that week or month.

  • Yes - we build foundations in session that students will be expected to follow through on outside of sessions.

A valuable part of the program will be small assignments between sessions - not so much “homework” - but we might challenge your student to do things like:

    • Attend a career center event and reflect on takeaways

    • Reach out to a new friend and make a lunch plan or join a student group

    • Update "a specific section of their LinkedIn profile

    • Attend office hours with a professor

  • We’ve seen students to over 300 unique colleges across the U.S. - including every U.S. News & World Report’s top 100 Universities. We do the work to get to deep dive into your student’s specific school - from its academic calendar to campus culture to key offices, policies, and support systems. We know colleges, we speak the language of colleges, and we either already know or know how to find the answer to virtually any question.

  • We provide academic skill-building support and our coaching focuses on helping students develop the “how-to” strategies essential for success in any college course. This includes:

    • How to manage time and plan for deadlines

    • How to study actively and retain information

    • How to utilize academic an academically supportive resources

    • How to take effective notes and read strategically

    • How to self-advocate with professors and navigate academic systems

    • How to stay organized and accountable across multiple classes

We help students build independence and confidence, and when we see that subject-specific support is needed (e.g., calculus or chemistry tutoring), we make timely referrals to campus or external resources.

  • Well Positioned is not therapeutic or clinical service, and we do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

However, we offer emotionally supportive mentorship that acknowledges the real stressors and transitions of college life.

We’re trained to spot signs of emotional strain and help students name what they’re experiencing. We provide a safe, confidential space for reflection, encouragement, and perspective — and when needed, we help students connect to appropriate counseling, wellness, or crisis support.

We are also equipped to thoughtfully monitor students navigating known mental health conditions (like anxiety, depression, or ADHD), helping them stay connected to appropriate care and offering a consistent, caring point of contact throughout their transition.

  • Career development is a very important part of what we offer. Why else would someone be in college if not to forge a path into their career?

We’re so much more than a traditional career advisor. We leverage truly knowing your student to help them explore their career. By getting to know your student, their goals, and their needs and with that knowledge, we help students explore majors, internships, professional goals, and the personal factors that influence these, all while staying grounded in who they are and where they’re headed.

Plus, we’re loaded with practical skills, assessments, and guidance geared towards discovering career direction and building an academic and experiential portfolio to achieve that.

Our “hard outcomes” include the development of a complete resume, a LinkedIn profile, and (when appropriate) portfolio development.

Our “soft outcomes” include career understanding and the knowledge to leverage college to maximize your career opportunities.

  • While IEPs don’t carry over to college, students can still receive accommodations through the campus Disability Services Office. We help students understand their rights, prepare documentation, and practice the self-advocacy skills needed to request support.

Navigating these campus services can be complicated — especially since, once your student turns 18, they hold the legal rights for all decision making in this arena (yes - even when you’re footing the tuition bill!).

We guide both students and families through the process to help students access the accommodations they qualify for, so no one gets left behind.

Otherwise, we also accommodate our services to the learning needs of students.

  • We offer a specialized program to help NIL athletes stay focused, grounded, and eligible for on-field activity by supporting their academic, emotional, social, and professional growth — especially during the high-pressure, high-visibility NIL era.

From time management to relationship challenges, we equip them with the tools they need to stay on the field and thrive long-term. Many families and agencies that contract us consider us the ultimate “insurance policy” for athletic and academic success.

Ultimately, we provide all the guidance for collegiate success to stay on the field. We do not provide marketing, NIL representation, or pro agent service but we do actively partner with such services to cross-functionally serve mutual clients.
